چکیده

The study introduces the detailed sequence of operations necessary to determine the selfand mutual inductances of power transformers from numerically simulated open-circuit and bucking experiments. Parameters of a welding style transformer are compared to those of a normal step-down transformer of equivalent ratings. The investigation identifies the different patterns of magnetic flux circulation when the two transformers operate with rated load. Implications of the high reactance of welding transformers on the consumption of reactive power and power factor are analyzed.

Investigating the Effect of Joint Geometry of the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Process on the Residual Stress and Distortion using the Finite Element Method

Although a few models have been proposed for 3D simulation of different welding processes, 2D models are still more effective in design goals, thus more popular due to the short-time analysis. In this research, replacing "time" by the "third dimension of place", the gas tungsten arc welding process was simulated by the finite element method in two dimensions and in a short time with acceptable ...

Analysis of Resistance Spot Welding Process Parameters Effect on the Weld Quality of Three-steel Sheets Used in Automotive Industry: Experimental and Finite Element Simulation

In the present research, the effects of spot-welding process parameters on the nugget diameter and electrode penetration depth of spot-welded joints were investigated. To achieve this, a spot-welded joint of three-thin sheet low carbon steels (same thicknesses of 0.8 mm) was simulated as an electerical-thermal-mechanical coupling of 3D finite element model. After validating the finite element s...

Finite Element Studies on Friction Stir Welding Processes of Polyethylene Plates

One of the interesting state-of-the-art approaches to welding is the process of friction stir welding (FSW). In comparison with the fusion processes, FSW is an advantageous method as it is suitable for the non-fusion weldable alloys and polymeric materials joining. Regarding the materials pure solid state joining, it also provides joints with less distortion and enhanced mechanical properties. ...

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Laser Assisted PC to Polycarbonate Welding

Laser welding is a novel method for direct joining of metals and polymers, which leads to a mechanical and chemical bond between metal and polymer. In this study, feasibility of dissimilar joining between St12 and polycarbonate is studied theoretically. Then, the ND: YAG laser is implemented to join St12 and Polycarbonate. Empirical results indicate creation of a joint between St12 and polycarb...
